Lavender, one of the most well known of the essential oils, with a sweet floral fragrance has a marked sedating effect to help you relax. Jasmine has an uplifting soothing quality though it stimulates the body. It has aphrodisiac properties and is a good skin care oil, smoothing and softening tired skin. It acts as an excellent skin tonic for the body. Bergamot with its zesty, fruity, sweet citrus scent also has a strong sedative effect but it is also reviving and uplifting to the spirit.
