Gift Ideas- See 'The Fairy'

Do you sometimes wish there was a magic fairy that could source the perfect present for someone special? Some gifts have been done to the death (chocolates and wine are so over) so why not go for the more unusual or elaborate (want to own a share in a racecourse?). Flippancy aside - as long as they are sent with meaning and make the recipient of the gift feel valued, then the gift has been a success.

But there are people out there that are hard to buy for. Maybe they already have ‘everything’. It can be so difficult to think of unique gifts for this type of person. Or you may think they wouldn’t appreciate the mainstream gifts, but would delight in receiving a present that’s a little different. In any eventuality, you will find the perfect gift ideas at MyRedPacket.

We are that magic fairy. We have already found the perfect present; we have some great gift ideas to ensure the birthday is extra special and the celebrator is over the moon.

From pamper gifts such as spa packs and head massagers, the lady in your life will be spoilt rotten. And in case she wouldn’t appreciate an excuse to treat herself (unlikely, but it could happen!), you could name a star or a rose after her; what woman would not value such a gesture? These are to name a few of the unusual gift ideas we have in stock.

Men may not want to be pampered, but they would enjoy a practical gift, or even a present that serves no purpose other than being fun – finger drums anyone? Everyone knows that men are big kids at heart and their birthday may be the only day of the year they can let the inner child out! Therefore a gadget shop with a difference, with a host of fun gadgets and amusing gifts would be the place to look. Let them race grannies, be doused in a barrel o’ slime, or give them a personalised history of the sport of their choice; it will keep them out of mischief for a few hours! (We are still talking about the men, not the kids!).

We also believe every age should to be celebrated. Presents can, and should, be enjoyed from the very young to the young-at-heart. Why not give the older birthday girl or boy a flower canvas that lets you insert your own message? Every time they look at that picture they will see the warm wishes you sent their way, long after their birthday and beyond. You’ve heard of the gift that keeps on giving – well this canvas epitomises that concept! Or how about a ‘plant in a tin’ – some elderly people may not have access to a garden and this gift brings the sunshine indoors.

Whatever the occasion, whomever the recipient, to give a gift is something we all do – but how many of us actually think about the present we are giving? Do you plump for the same thing each year? Have you run out of ideas? Just remember, My Red Packet is the home of that magic, perfect-present-finding fairy!

Gadgets Galore!

James Bond films are loved by boys and, in turn, men - mainly due to the gadgets featured.  The ‘looks like a pen, but it’s actually a fully functional research labatory’ is an idea that started from the first film and is still going strong in the Daniel Craig newbies.  It seems the more ridiculous an idea, the more we swallow it and think ‘yes, that could actually be a working prototype – surely you must be able to buy these in the shops?’

But that’s the thing, isn’t it?  Where do you buy gadgets?  Do you go to the gadget shop?  Is there such a thing?

Well, online, you can find any kind of shop you could ever want, such is the nature of the internet.  And while gadgets are commonly seen as an attraction to the male species, I know many females who are just as excited about them!

I mean, what is a washer other than a large gadget?  What is a toaster, if not a gadget designed to toast bread instead of dangling it over the fire?  (And why are gadgets for women commonly associated with the kitchen?!)........

It’s better to give than receive – Gorgeous Gift Ideas

The saying ‘it’s better to give than receive’ is drilled into to us by our mothers when we’re children – possible to get us out of the toy shop when buying friends’ birthday presents without having to buy us one too.  But it’s true.  When treating yourself, it’s such a lonely act – to treat another, not only do you make your day, but the warm, gooey feeling you get inside for making them happy also pleases you too.  Two for the price of one!

The association with most religions teach us that other people’s wellbeing should come before our own; that to think of ourselves first could constitute the mortal sin of greed.  This also leads us to another saying of ‘we’re never satisfied’ – intimating that if we always get what we want, we will always want more.  Jesus was given the gifts Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh on his birthday, so although you may think that giving someone a birthday present has no religious connotation, think back to that.  Had Toys ‘R’ Us been open – would things have been different?  (This is meant as a joke and not as blasphemy.)

So when it comes to birthdays, Christmas, wedding, engagements, any occasion, the giving of a gift is morally and customary correct.  It makes the receiver feel special on their special day and it marks the occasion in a suitable way.  The consideration to make is to make the gift suitable to the event.  For instance, you would not give a gift of a bottle of champagne to a five-year old girl for her birthday.  Nor would you hang one of your old socks on the fireplace at any other time of they year if they didn’t need drying – but come Christmas, this is a tradition!

There are certain gifts that can be suitable for most events.  Chocolates and flowers are very personal gifts and suit birthdays, Valentine’s, Mothers’ Day but perhaps not so suitable for a wedding or engagement gift.  The gift of jewellery is lovely for Christmas, birthdays and again, Valentine’s but any occasion such as weddings or engagements – even anniversaries, and you’ve a couple to buy for.  Something like a necklace is not something they can use at the same time – even if they wanted to.

A bottle of champagne is a very versatile gift as it indicates celebration.  This makes it perfect for an engagement gift, moving house, birthdays – if you personalise the label with an appropriate message, it could even make a nice wedding day gift.

Photo frames may seem like a safe choice and for someone wanting a gift that is a little bit more personal, this may seem like the wrong choice.  But if you filled the frame with a sentimental photo that will make them smile, then what could be better?  Photo frames are easily personalised or engraved so this makes it an even more thoughtful choice.  Plus, unlike flowers that die after a week, they can look at your frame and think of you every time.

An unusual gift for someone’s birthday is to buy a paper from the day they were born.  If you know how old they are on their birthday, it should be very easy to work out their date of birth.  This gift is very sentimental and very interesting maybe for older recipients or anyone interested in history or genealogy.

There are so many online shops now that you can find the perfect gift without even leaving your armchair.  Search engines make it easy for you to type in the occasion and type of gift you are looking for to make it even simpler to stumble on the perfect present.  Some shops even separate their range according to the occasion and offer ideas in case you’re stuck for inspiration.

This is a good way to shop rather than deciding beforehand what you are going to buy and just typing this into the search box.  When presented with a range of occasion-appropriate gifts, you may find you change your mind for something else more suited to the recipient.  After all, you know the person who the present is for, not the shop.  You know their likes and dislikes; their tastes, and what will make them happy.  So you are far better placed than any personal shopper, search engine or Top Ten Gift Lists for finding that perfect gift.

You may even find, along the way, the perfect gift that you would like.  Then all you need to do is buy a packet of Post-It notes and leave subtle hints (well, the web address, product number and description); inside the fridge, under the soap, on the mirror, on the steering wheel of the car……
