60 and sassy!

August 19th, 2010

Most 60 year olds will find they’ve amassed a lifetime’s worth of belongings and it is probably harder to buy 60th birthday gifts for this age group then someone half their age.  Because of their financial freedom, they are more likely to be able to pop out and buy anything they want, at any time.

Therefore, it might be a good idea to club together with the rest of the family and buy something really worthwhile as opposed to individual trinkets.  It doesn’t even have to be an object that you buy - the whole family could pool their funds and send the 60 year old in question on a short holiday where they can relax and create some beautiful memories.

Perhaps you could treat them to a trip to London (obviously not such an original gift if you actually LIVE in London!), taking in a West End show and a meal at the Ivy.  They may just appreciate spending time with their family so a day out to a huge shopping mall accompanied by some shopping vouchers would be perfect.

If this perhaps may not suit the recipient in question, an expensive piece of jewellery, like a gold watch, diamond ring or beautiful necklace would spoil them rotten.  If it’s your 60 year old Dad or Granddad, perhaps some new golf clubs or a games console would put a twinkle in his eye?

It’s a myth that this generation are not technologically savvy.  Some may not be, but the majority of sixty year-olds have mobile phones, digital cameras and laptops.  And if you’ve ever seen them near a Wii machine, you might as well resign yourself to the fact you’re not getting a go!

Therefore, for the lovers of the digital age, why not treat them to this hand-held puzzle machine?  Studies have shown that the more we exercise our minds as we get older, the less likely we will be to suffer from memory-related conditions such as Alzheimers.

This pocket-sized machine holds 2000 different puzzles and quiz questions - it will keep them busy until they’re 80!

Lots of 60 year olds get more time to tend to their garden than perhaps those with their children still at home.  For the keen gardener there are plenty of things you could treat them to.  Again, you could all club together to buy them a garden furniture set which they can use to relax in the sunshine.  If they enjoy the garden but, because of illness or some other reason, may not be able to do the hard graft, you could arrange for someone to landscape their garden.  This would make tending it easier, it would give their land a new lease of life and stoke their passion for their outdoor space.

You can even name a rose after the lucky 60 year-old.  Imagine giving your loved one a variety of plant named after them!

Not only a perfect gift for their birthday but when planted, and flourishing, the flower heads it produces will seem like another gift months down the line.  Bless!

Being 60 is only a state of mind (and body) - you are as young as you feel.  Some 60 year olds like to be out on the town every weekend and take city trips to far flung places.  Others are happy to spend time with their grandkids and loved ones, just pottering around the house or going on rambling walks.

Maybe the most important thing when buying for someone’s 60th birthday is actually ASK them what they want?!

To be 21 again!

August 17th, 2010

It’s easy to be envious of the heady freedom a 21 year-old enjoys.  No responsibilities, few ties and the world at your feet.  The well-known ‘key to the door’ age is the peak of youth for most.  Because kids of this age already seem to have everything, it can be difficult to find the perfect birthday present for this lucky band of youngsters on the cusp of adulthood.  Here are a few ideas and tips for 21st birthday gifts.

A traditional gift in days gone by was a symbolic key - often a novelty gift in a presentation box that sometimes took the place of a card, as most had room to write your message.  The more affluent may have received a piece of jewellery as a keepsake - it was also popular to give a locket or key charm on the end of a necklace, for example.

Nowadays, kids are blinged up from a very early age so unless they need yet another gold chain, the lure of a gold necklace does not have the same exciting effect.  However, quirky jewellery such as a charm bracelet allows young girls to make their jewellery individual and be ahead of any trend.

That said, girls especially are far more fashion-concious than they may have been a generation ago and the celebrity culture has certainly had an influence in this respect.  Many celebrities bring out their own perfume range - in fact, there’s so many on the market nowadays it’s very hard to choose just one.  Gone are the days of Charlie and Tweed!  (Ask your mum.)  An absolutely perfect gift for a 21 year old is to present her with her own ‘brand’ of perfume.

An individual scent complete with personalised label will be the envy of the birthday girl’s friends.

Young boys will no doubt be driving, or learning to drive, in a boy racer car.  It doesn’t matter how many years have gone by, the ‘boy-racer’ attitude of making as much noise as possible to impress the young girls is not a new phenonomen - ask your father; he probably did it on his Morris Minor or 50cc motorbike!  Therefore, a great gift idea for a 21 year old guy is not necessarily something for him but for the love of his life - his car.  That is, until he finds a girl that he likes more (he’ll soon forget about the four-wheeler).  What about offering to pay for some alloy wheels?  Or if your budget is a little smaller, buy him a car kit so he can spend hours lovingly cleaning and polishing his pride and joy.

Of course, this gift could apply to the girls as well.  MyRedPacket does a special ‘girly’ kit, all in pink!

One of the main things associated with a 21 year old’s birthday celebrations is alcohol!  Although it won’t be anywhere near the first time they’ve experienced having a drink, it becomes even more acceptable at this age - and perhaps the binge drinking is already out of their system by 21?  A traditional gift that would still work well today as a keepsake is an engraved tankard - perfect for adding your birthday message and a great receptacle for copious amounts of booze.

Here’s a really novel gift - ideal for the computer geek or constant gamer.  This T-shirt has a unique ‘pad’ on the front which detects the strength of a wi-fi signal when one comes into range of the garment.  The shirt’s pad will illuminate proportionately to the strength of the signal.  The things they think about nowadays!

So there you go, plenty of hip and happening gifts for the 21 year old girl or boy.  Of course, we’re not jealous - honest!

Don’t let romance die!

August 12th, 2010

Today’s world is fast-paced and, due to our reliance on technology, maybe a little impersonal.  Romance seems to be more of an effort, but there are romantic gifts available that can make personal and unforgettably precious moments easy to fit into our stressful lives.

Usually, the first fires of romance are when a new relationship gets off the ground.  It may be very easy to think of your loved one as they will most probably never be out of your mind!  However, for when you’re not together, a personalised gift can show your other half just how much they mean to you.

A beautiful necklace, a great gift at any time, will be even more special if a message on the back read, “I will always love you”.  Imagine how your lady would feel if every time she turned it over she saw those words?  Talk about a gift that keeps on giving.

Romantic gifts doesn’t have to be expensive.  For example, look at this: a personalised i love you mug

At less than fifteen quid it’s hardly breaking the bank, but by placing your romantic message on there, your other half will feel a warm glow every morning as they enjoy their first cuppa of the day.  You can’t put a price on that!

For specific occasions you could order your spouse/loved one a romantic poem.  Before you fret that you’re not exactly Shakespeare, you only have to pop a few personal details or anecdotes on a quick questionnaire and we will produce the whole thing for you.  You can choose the tone of the poem too, so if you want to inject humour as well as swathes of romance, that’s easily done!  How many people can claim to have had poetry written completely about them; their life, their likes, dislikes, funny moments etc.?

You can also place a romantic poem next to a favourite picture of your partner and have the whole lot framed.  The finished product would look something like this:

This is the perfect special occasion gift.  Memorably both visually and literally, it would become a precious momento for any recipient.  It also shows just how much trouble you’ve gone to for the love of your life.

There are other ways to use personalising - (this one is probably for the boys).  If you would like to propose to your girlfriend, how best to do it than by surprise?  You can buy from myredpacket.co.uk a stylish dinner plate that you can personalise.  Why not add the words, “will you marry me?”.  Invite your girlfriend over and cook her a beautiful meal by candlelight, placing the food on said plate.  As she’s eating her meal the all-important proposal will begin to form and when she’s finished, the surprise question will be right in front of her face.  It will make for a cute story to tell the grandkids!

Have you been proposed to in an unusual way?  Or have you yourself proposed to someone in a way that is a little out of the ordinary?  We would love to hear your stories!

We have got lost a little with text messaging and emails, perhaps forgetting just how very powerful the written word is.  We no longer sit and write letters - but we should, for they’ll last far longer than the text message in your memory.  People generations ago wrote stunning words of romance and love because that was the only medium they had available, but even though we now have more, the anticipation of receiving a letter, the effort it displays and the ability to put in length your feelings for your loved one is truly romantic.

When you think of great love stories, you don’t think of Stacy and Kev’s text message tirade but of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, Cathy and Heathcliff - Rose and Jack from Titanic even!  It is near impossible to get that depth of feeling in 140 characters on Twitter or using shortened messaging like, “i luv u. u mke my hrt sng.  i cnt w8 2 b ur hub”.  Have I made my point?

Although there isn’t room on some romantic gifts to write great sonnets there is still the visual impact of seeing the words “I love you” on a tangible item - an item that you will see or use every day.  If you want to show more detail, go for gifts like the poem, canvas or framed picture and words.

Any woman, and even some men, appreciate it when it shows you’ve gone to some trouble.  Romance deserves a little thought.  Work at it and don’t let it die out!

Getting the message across…

July 29th, 2010

You may think that you should only buy a personalised gift when it’s someone’s birthday or anniversary.  However, personalised gifts have the capacity to get a certain message across - just like a marketing slogan.

You may be having a summer barbecue for no other reason than to hang out with your friends and have a good laugh and a drink.  Say you need to buy a new apron (or even if you don’t need a new one but you fancy a point of interest for your friends to discuss) - so that your party clothes don’t get spat on by the barbecue; why not get a personalised apron that can be personalised with a humorous message?  Or even better, if your hubby comes over all, ‘MY barbecue!’ then get one for him.  Look at this one:

Now imagine his most embarassing photo on there - a true stinker where he looks the world’s biggest geek/weirdo/idiot.  Then the laughs from your friends when the personalised caption underneath says, “Eat my Sausage!”.  Priceless, and a definite star turn for your party.

A personalised gift can have a practical use too.  For example, imagine you have identical twins and often forget which one is which throughout the day.  By buying a personalised babygro like the one below, you only have to glance at the front to know which screamster you’ve picked up.  (Though you can’t get away with this when they’re older - at some point you will have to put the effort in to find some distinguishing features!)

You can even buy personalised chocolate bars.  Go above and beyond the call of duty - say that someone new is starting in your office and you want to welcome them and make them feel part of a happy team - what would you do?  Would you buy flowers, or a card?  Too much?  A bit too full-on?  Why not buy them a personalised chocolate bar and leave it on their desk.  Not with their name on - that might be bordering on stalking and give the TOTALLY wrong impression, but with a message like, “Welcome to XYZ office” or, “Something to get you through your 1st day”.  How brilliant a workplace would they think they’ve joined?

Sometimes we buy people gifts as a way of saying ‘Thank You’.  Maybe someone has been a shoulder to cry on when you’ve been going through a difficult time, or maybe they’re helped out with childcare whilst you moved house/went for a night away.  Flowers or a bottle of wine are satisfactory, yes, but a bit boring.  Why not get them their own personalised perfume?  They’ll be tripping over themselves to help you again!

Some gifts are so beautiful and unusual that it may be a wrench to let them go to the rightful recipient.  God knows how many times I’ve bought chocolates for someone in advance and they’ve been sat winking at me in the corner (the chocolates, not the recipient).  Before I could restrain myself the empty wrappers have been in the bin.  If you buy this beautiful charm bracelet and place the receiver’s name on it then you can’t pinch it for yourself.  Especially tempting when they’re as gorgeous as this!

That’s assuming you don’t have the same name as the person you’re giving it to, of course, or you’ve the same problem of resisting temptation!

A gift is one thing, but a personalised message really adds another dimension.  Instead of wasting the messaging element on someone’s birthday where the same phrase is repeated over and over again, let your imagination run wild!

Gorgeous gifts that Travel!

July 21st, 2010

It can be hard to conjure up gift ideas for someone whom may be a little quirky or have off-the-scale hobbies and interests.  For these go-getters, a box of chocolates or a wilting bunch of blooms may not be enough.

There are so many different ranges nowadays that gifts for travellers can be tailored exactly to someone’s passions.  For example, you may know someone who indulges in the sport of extreme ironing.  This sport involves trekking and climbing to the most far-flung spot then setting up an ironing board and smoothing out a few creases.  Some of the followers are actually sane, though it may not sound it.  Gift ideas for this group would be something that caters to their hobby.  I know the obvious choice is to buy them an iron - but let’s face it - is there really a power point on the top of Everest?

Travel and outdoor gifts are aplenty - take a look at this travel alarm clock:

Classy, compact and functional - what more could you ask for?  An alternative gift idea could be a travel screwdriver/tool set (just in case the iron breaks down).

For travellers that like to get about in relative comfort than those lugging an ironing board up a mountain, you could make their journey even more relaxing by buying them a deluxe travel pillow as a gift.  They are easy to transport, soft and colourful - and above all, very comfy.

The holiday season is upon us and all of a sudden it seems a crime to be indoors when the slightest speck of sunshine can be found.  Nothing beckons us more when the sun is out than water - be this an outdoor swimming pool, the seaside, a hot tub or sprinkler in the garden.  Gifts ideas for children’s birthday parties that occur in the holiday season could include outdoor sports gifts, such as lawn skittles or badminton sets.  Small trampolines or mini ball pools are great for younger children and for their parents too as they tire the little tykes out!

For someone who is a constant traveller, a personalised passport holder is a great addition to their luggage set and protects the most important document they’ll carry from grime and scratches.  It probably won’t stop it from getting lost though!

There are many gadgets that you can buy for the discerning traveller, or even people who like camping.  Multi-tool sets (ideal when you’ve forgotten the can opener and you’re in a field in the middle of nowhere with just your tent and the cows for company), torches, emergency phone chargers and even travel manicure sets!  I suppose it can get a little boring in the field of cows; filing your nails will at least provide a slight distraction!

For someone who loves the outdoors, it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination to assume they care for the environment too.  Great gift ideas for those passionate about the world in which we live are these recyclable wallets.  They are durable, water resistant and will last much longer than most normal wallets, plus they come in these eye-catching designs:

The designs are actually meant to deter would be thieves and pick-pockets - an unfortunate part of travelling.  By disguising themselves as letters, comics and so forth, the chances of them attracting any attention is vastly reduced.

It’s so rewarding to give someone a great gift that is actually going to be used, rather than a white elephant that may end up on a tombola stall or shoved in the attic somewhere, plus you’ve given the recipient a great deal of delight to know that his travelling life will be made slightly easier - leaving them free to focus on the delights and sights of pastures new.

Beautiful Gifts for Beautiful Bridesmaids

July 21st, 2010

On a woman’s wedding it’s quite right that she should be the centre of attention.  She may have organised a lot, or a little of her big day.  But we musn’t overlook how much support her bridesmaids give her and the great gifts that can be given from the happy couple to thank their beautiful attendants for their help.

Gifts for bridesmaids are probably influenced by the age of the bridesmaid.  For instance, you wouldn’t buy some expensive perfume for a four year old flower girl, but it would be a great gift for a young teen who is starting to notice how many unattached male relatives there are on the groom’s side!

For an adult bridesmaid a nice gift could be a pretty necklace; the accompanying box can even be engraved with your own message of thanks, like the one below:

There are some great gift ideas for bridesmaids out there that carry an element of fun too.  The big day’s soppy enough without adding to the emotional outpouring.  You could raise a smile throughout the whole congregation by giving your attendants personalised chocolate bars like these:

Perfect for any bridesmaid, of any age! Other bridesmaids’ gift ideas include personalised mugs, glasses and compacts - something that they can look at often and remember what a great event they were part of.

Sometimes, bridemaids have a lot of responsibility. They may have to solely organise the hen do or bridal shower, arrange all the other bridesmaids’ dress fittings and support the bride in anything she needs a second opinion for.  All that and she’s not even the one getting married!  All the more reason to spoil her.  Perhaps you could treat her to a spa break - even arranging your own ticket so that you can enjoy a girlie weekend together when the fuss of the big day has died down.  Or perhaps there is a designer dress she has had her eyes on for ages - if you give her the outfit when the speeches are being read (which is the usual time to hand these types of gifts out) then she could even have the dilemma of what to wear for your night do sorted!

An alternative gift idea could be to buy her an aromatherapy gift set so that she can recharge her batteries after what will probably have been a hectic few weeks in the run up to the wedding.  She can unwind and really spoil herself - take a look at this one:

Of course, most of these gifts may tempt the bride to treat herself and who can blame her?  Once married, you could find that the girlie nights out and shopping trips decline in number slightly so it means even more when you do get together for a good time.

Bridemaids are not just ornaments to fill out the photos, they play an integral part of the wedding party and proceedings.  If you are struggling with what to buy your bridesmaids as thanks for the support they’ve given you on your big day, just think of what you would like to receive that would feel like you’re being spoilt and I’m sure you’ll be along the right lines.

Unusual and Unique Gifts for every Occasion

July 8th, 2010

Haven’t you sometimes got bored of seeing the same gifts on the shelves, or even receiving the same things yourself?  Wouldn’t you like to give a gift that makes someone say, “Wow!”?

Some items don’t even look like gifts.  For example, look at these:

They look like Mum’s gone straight to Iceland and bought the family size gateau, but they’re actually top-quality face towels made to look like strawberry tarts.  They look good enough to eat and they’re practical too!  Great as a stocking filler or just a little something to put a smile on a loved one’s face…..before they wash it with the face towel.

There are plenty of novelty gifts available for someone who never quite grew up.  Technology may be used for fantastic things like re-creating the creation of the world in the Hadron Collider.  But it can also be used to plug a dancing cactus into the side of your laptop.  Amazing.  You can buy gadgets to tone your (ahem) love muscle, fake parking tickets, fake dog poo, fake Asbo certificates - all guaranteed to humiliate someone, somewhere.  I’m sure there is someone in every person’s life who they’d like to play pranks on - in fact, I’m already up to double figures with people on my humiliation hit list.

There are some hugely practical gifts out there that are unique and stylish.  The keyring below could literally be a life saver - it stores paper money in it, so should there be an emergency where you’ve lost your wallet, or even easier to do - come out from the house without it - there is always this emergency fund with you.

You might think this is not the most extravagant gift but the minute you get one, all your friends will be saying, “Where did you get that?  I could do with one of those/like someone to buy me one/please give me it”.

Then there are the types of gifts that are sheer novelty.  They don’t provide much practicality but they’re just loads of fun!  Racing grannies and fighting granddads, for the little kids and big kids; shooting duck games, finger drums, wind-up break dancers, bullsh*t detectors, backwards clocks, remote controlled tarantulas….I could go on.  Bring any one of these out at a party and people will flock to have a go.

I think the success of these kinds of toys are because we never truly grow up.  We watch our kids with their toys longingly after a hard day’s slog and think, “I want to have a go!”.  Because we can’t just take over the kids’ toys we buy our own adult versions - because as Mars said, “Life is work, rest and play”.

Although it may be true to say that unusual, gadgety gifts are more for men, you’d be surprised to know that there are just as many for women.  Like this chocolate calculator - “The Choc-u-lator!”:

Perfect for a lady’s work needs yet don’t be surprised when brought out from the desk drawer all female colleagues’ tongues will be salivating.  In fact, it may be too tempting to use!

There are so many unique and unusual gifts and gift ideas out there; perfect fillers for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas - even Valentine’s Day for the more wacky couples!  It doesn’t matter how outlandish or off-the-wall your recipient is, there is always a gift to suit!

Secret gifts - perfect for surprises!

July 5th, 2010

The main theme of giving a present is that it’s usually a surprise.  A treat - either a surprise gift for a planned occasion or something that is given out of the blue - both instances will bring great pleasure to the recipient.

But there is the practical element to consider.  For instance, it’s not that easy if you live with the person whom the gift is for, to keep it from them - especially if you were buying them something like a new car.  Surely, they’d question a vehicle if it was sat in their drive for a week or two?  Or maybe you fancy buying them a horse because they’ve always wanted one.  You may be able to keep it at stables until the day of the ‘reveal’ but you nipping over there twice a day to feed and water it could lead your other half to think you are up to something else!

Perhaps then, the best surprise and inexpensive gifts are small but oh-so-perfectly formed.  Something like a ring that comes in its own box and can be hidden in a jacket pocket until presented.  However, if you don’t know your lady’s ring size, it may be difficult to obtain this information without raising suspicion - the answer is to either borrow one of her current rings without detection (such as when she’s in the shower) or to get a bendy/plastic ring-measurer and place it round the desired digit when she’s asleep.

There are loads of things at MyRedPacket.co.uk that are not only beautiful gifts but ones that can be easily hidden.  Trinket boxes, perfume, a personalised poem; all gifts that can be hidden amongst clothing in your wardrobe for the perfect moment.

There are also loads of ‘Name a….’ gifts.  Examples such as, Name a Rose after your loved one - not only do they get a whole variety of rose plant named after them, they also receive some seeds of said variety to plant in their garden.  She can go outside in the summer and gaze at ‘herself’ when in full bloom!  You can also name stars after people, buy a title such as Lord or Lady and even send a message into space concerning your loved one.  Cosmic!  The gift is in the naming so the accompanying box of documentation can be hidden on a bookshelf or in the glove box of your car.

Take a look at this gorgeous mirror compact.  Not only is it covered in diamante but you can also personalise it, so that everytime she takes it out of her bag she can read your message of love.  As if that wasn’t enough, it’s also heart-shaped!  Great size too - just right for placing in your coat pocket out the way of snooping eyes!

You’ll notice that this article seems aimed at men sneaking secret presents behind their womenfolk’s back and no mention of how women can hide gifts from men.  That’s because women could walk in naked with the gift dangling across their chests but if they time it when the footy’s on then the surprise gift will remain a secret, I assure you.  And if your man’s birthday is during this World Cup you could probably bring home a gift of a new DIY work bench, position it as a coffee table under his nose and serve him his drinks off it - and he still wouldn’t notice.

Not that we complain that men don’t pick up on these things - otherwise we’d never get those sale bargains into our wardrobe or that to-die-for pair of shoes will stand out like a sore thumb against the other 99 pairs you already own.

It is a lovely idea to surprise someone with a gift, whether it’s for their birthday, alternative occasion or just for the hell of it.  Not only is the recipient getting a beautiful gift, they also get the clear message that someone has gone to such trouble to make the moment even more memorable by organising the surprise.  So make life easy for yourself - don’t get her a new surfboard that you have to pretend is a new kind of ironing board for a month - get something small, but beautifully formed.

Funky Photo Frames - Personalised Too!

June 24th, 2010

For anyone buying a gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, christening - in fact, any occasion -  personalised photo frames is a great choice.  Wonderfully generic yet personable at the same time, it’s no wonder that photo frames are a very popular choice for a gift.

It’s a long time since we saw just the standard photo frames like the steel and gold plated ones.  Nowadays there are so many funky styles that the photo they contains hardly get a look-in!  People also buy stylish photo frames for themselves as an interior decor accessory.  I’m so lazy, when I decorate a room I buy new photo frames to match but can’t quite get round to changing the shop’s own photo that’s already inside.  I’ve even begun telling visitors that the models in the photos are my family, it’s just easier that way.

Take a look at these designs:

Both absolutely stunning.  And the extra feature is that they can be personalised with your own message.  They really are the perfect gifts for anyone.

Sometimes, it’s nice to give a engraved photo frame with a precious photo already contained within.  A present from a mother to her mother with pictures of the recipient’s grandchildren inside.  A first anniversary present from a guest to the happy couple showing a snap from their wedding that they’d never seen before, (often the guests’ photos are better than the staged photos as they capture the moment as it happened, rather than the pose set by the wedding photographer).

You can even buy photo frames without the frame.  I know that sounds like something from an alternate dimension but I meant items like this:

No frame, but a great photo and plenty of room for a personal message.  This could be a very romantic gift for a husband to give his wife too.  You can even get photo frames that look like something else; this one looks like an easel on a stand.

The types of frames vary too - you can get oak, silver, glass, metal, ceramic and many more materials.  There’s so many different colours and patterns that it should be very easy to trace the perfect one for either yours or a recipient’s living room.  Candlesticks used to be the ornament of choice for mantelpieces but these seem to have gone out of fashion.  A pair of matching photo frames at either end will look fantastic.

A photo frame is a nice gift for teenagers to buy their friends for their birthday - especially a fun one that can be personalised.  It could be given as a present already holding a picture of them both together, maybe with the message, “I’m with Stupid”.

For sheer versatility, a photo frame must be the ideal gift.  They are not expensive and can be the most sentimental keepsake to anyone in receipt of one.  We even buy photo frames for ourselves and I bet there are very few homes across the country who couldn’t produce one if asked.  Buy one today!!

Special gifts for the Sassy 60s

June 22nd, 2010

60 is the new 50, did you know?  There is so much opportunity to keep our youth nowadays that reaching 60 does not mean reaching for the zimmer frame.  So what 60th birthday gifts can you buy this new breed?  No longer will cheap perfume or a bunch of chrysanthemums do, 60 year olds want far more from life!

At 60, a person’s family is most likely to be grown up; they’re winding down their working life and they’ve got less stress and more time to enjoy life.  They might eat out more regularly than people half their age!  Though you may not agree, they also still take an interest in fashion.  This is not to say they wouldn’t have done this in the past but retail outlets have finally got the message that this group of people are prepared to spend money on something that they like.  This age bracket aren’t quite ready for support stockings and hand-knitted cardigans but instead, garments like stylish fitted jeans and smart jackets.

Therefore, jewellery will be a lovely present - something classis and simple by design - or even some cosmetic chunky jewellery that is all the rage at the moment.  Likewise, a nice scarf made of a luxrious material would be great for them to sling on with a white T-shirt and jeans.  For the men, they may go for a smart belt with a chunky buckle or even a nice V-neck jumper, plain in design but in a classic colour.

These unusual charm bracelets are ideal for 60-something women - they’re fashionable, stylish and will match a whole range of outfits.

Not only are these charm bracelets items that will last for a really long time and receive plenty of use, but another benefit is that they can be engraved with a personal message making them a very sentimental gift choice too.  Perfect for your mum or nan; a great way to tell her how special she is.

Another idea could be to help her enjoy true relaxation, by buying her a spa pack or aromathery gift set.  You could complement these with lavender incense sticks - she is probably the only person out of your whole family who is most likely to enjoy a relaxing, uninterrupted bath - so she may as well go the whole hog!

For your 60-something granddad, he may be something of a keen gardener.  Rather than just buying him a gardening book or new shovel, go for something a little more unusual and name a rose after him.  He will not only enjoy planting and tending to the rose, he will also love to pick the blooms knowing they are his very own variety.

Perhaps he’s something of a joker, always teasing you into submission?  If so, buy him a novelty gift such as this Sudoku loo paper.

As I said earlier, this is the generation who don’t have to vacate the bathroom for others and can spend as much time in there as they like!!  Perhaps they could get so bored they feel like doing a puzzle, who knows?

For something totally different, take a look at this:

A luxurious face towel in the form of a strawberry tart!  It looks good enough to eat, let alone wipe your face with!  You may find other generations wanting some of these.

So there you go, sassy 60s starting trends!  They are literally having the time of their lives - and if this blog post is anything to go by, they’re spending it all in the bathroom!
